Website maintenance and security updates
A website is not finished at launch. Software changes, forms can stop working, and a backup is only useful when recovery has been considered too. I help you understand the situation and carry out targeted improvements.
Discuss website maintenanceDoes this fit your situation?
For business owners who are unsure who maintains their website, notice outdated components or want changes carried out carefully. The first step is establishing which website, hosting and access actually exist.
What we can work on
- An inventory of the software and responsibilities across hosting and maintenance.
- A proposal for necessary updates and concerns, matched to the actual environment.
- Agreements about backups, a rollback option and recovery testing.
- Checks of agreed functions after changes, such as contact forms and important visitor journeys.
How we approach the work
- Record the current situation
- We review what is running, what access is available and what your business needs from the site. We distinguish routine maintenance from an outage or possible security incident.
- Prepare the changes
- We agree what will be updated, when it will happen and how to roll back. Depending on the environment, a test environment may be needed before production changes.
- Check and document
- After the change, we check the agreed functions and record the work completed. We discuss which tasks recur and who is responsible for following up.
What to know upfront
Maintenance does not eliminate risk. This service is not 24/7 monitoring, penetration testing or full incident response. If there are signs of a breach, we discuss which specialist assistance is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Can you maintain a website you did not build?
That depends on its technology, documentation and available access. I review the environment first and explain what I can take over and where the hosting provider or original developer remains necessary.
Am I automatically signing up for a maintenance plan?
No. A one-off review or change and recurring maintenance are separate agreements. Scope, frequency and cost are discussed in advance.
Does an update guarantee a secure website?
No. Updates are one part of maintenance. Permissions, configuration, dependencies and recovery options may need attention too. I make clear which checks are included in the engagement.
